the sun is out
it's time to head on out
it's time to have some fun
he's on the road, another time zone
he won't call before we're done
we'll take the interstate
north or south, aw honey, let's leave it to fate
we've got the top right down
wayfarers on
iPhone charged! We're ready to go
Jesus blasts on the stereo
we'll worry about him tomorrow
we'll take the interstate
north or south, aw honey, let's leave it to fate
Super 8, Comfort Inn, Howard Johnson, we don't care!
IHOP, Krispy Kreme, Hot Now! no, we don't care!
tears will fall! someone will get hurt! it's just wrong!
no, we don't care!
we've got miles to go, we've got the open road
where we'll stop, we don't want to know
we want to get out of town, we want to get on down
get there fast so we can take it slow
our hearts beat at a hundred miles an hour
powered baby by this love of ours
we'll take the interstate
north or south, aw honey, let's leave it to fate

Traveling Man 2:10
Written by Miwa (Ocean and Moon ASCAP)
My man, he is a traveling man
You might have seen him going from town to town
He got friendly manners and a charming smile
He surely knows he's good looking
But ladies I'd be careful if I were you,
If you ever meet my traveling man
My man, he's a traveling man
And he never tells me where he'd been
But it's not hard to find out where he'd been
He leaves traces of broken hearts
Just follow the trail of broken hearts,
If you want to see my traveling man
My man, he's a traveling man
You might have seen him going from town to town
I wonder if he's wearing his wedding band
I'm surely getting tired of all these women looking at me
Looking at me like I'm in their way,
Between them and my traveling man
My traveling man had a friend
He used to come around and cheer me up
When I'm down with the trouble of my traveling man
And one day I just about had enough
So I put on my coat and left him,
Left for good with the friend of my traveling man

Gotta keep on rollin’, gonna hitch a ride
Want to see this country with my own two eyes
It’s an open road, you take your chances
When you’re young and out in the big world all alone
My backpack strapped upon my back, I waited for a ride
My arm outstretched, thumb pointed west, chance would be my guide
Hours came and hours went, the sun was sinking low
With zero miles behind me and three thousand miles to go
Spent the night behind a bush off Highway 24
Mosquitoes swarmed around my head, my flesh could stand no more
I took my sign across the street to a truckstop restaurant
Next thing I remember I was riding up in front – on 18 wheels!
I stopped to see my sister on Short Mountain, Tennessee
She put me in the barn with all the chickens and the sheep
Crossed the bridge from Paducah to the home of Superman
Policeman called me over, “Son, I have to take you in.”
A local from Metropolis said, “I’ll give that boy a ride.
I’ll take him to the edge of town, to the Massac County line.”
Standing on a cloverleaf waiting for a ride to come
A quiet summer afternoon I thought my day was done
Suddenly a man appeared out on the overpass
With pants pulled down below his knees he gestured with his hands
A couple with a pickup truck on their way to Laramie
Tossed their keys and said, “You drive, we really need some sleep.”
Around Salt Lake and through the flats beyond the Great Divide
The desert from its searing sun gave little place to hide
I took a ride in Reno from two crazy hippie freaks
They got me stoned, those mountain roads, man they sure seemed steep – Don’t look down!
Gotta keep on rollin’, rollin’, gonna hitch a ride
Want to see this country with my own two eyes
It’s an open road, you take your chances
When you’re young and out in the big world all alone
When you’re young and out in the big world all alone
